TWO United Airlines planes crashed on the runway at LaGuardia in New York, as the airport grappled with monster delays.

One plane, having landed from Orlando, Florida, bashed into the tail of another while turning into its arrival gate.

Waiting to begin taxiing for its journey to Houston, the other plane was stationary at the time, the New York Post reported.

A fleet of emergency vehicles rushed to the scene of the crash, footage showed.

Both planes returned to the gate, and all the passengers had to disembark.

There were no injuries reported among the 328 passengers and 15 crew members on board the two planes.

A passenger told the outlet: “We all felt a bump during taxi to the runway but didn’t know it was another plane until the captain said it was.””

The Houston-bound plane, which appeared to have been visibly damaged, was already running on a 90-minute delay.

Several planes had been grounded earlier on Friday due to high winds, which reached up to 45mph.

Delays were running at an average of two hours and 15 minutes, though some were delayed by as much as five hours.

This is the second crash on the runway at LaGuardia within a month.

On October 1, the wing was ripped off a Delta plane, and a flight attendant was injured by another jet from the same airline.

The CRJ-900 regional jets, both operated by Delta subsidiary Endeavor Air, clipped each other just before 10pm.

Shocking footage revealed the aftermath: one plane’s wing torn apart, the nose of the other visibly dented, and passengers stranded as emergency vehicles swarmed the tarmac.

A CBS News producer on board described the horror moment his plane was “absolutely smashed.”

“We were taxiing to our runway and we got absolutely smashed by another Delta flight… I don’t know if we hit them or they hit us but it was super jarring,” he said.

“Everyone shot forward in their seats, it was a little chaotic, we were shocked at what happened.”
